I graduated from Norwich School of Art in 1977, having already worked as a freelancer in London. I started as a junior visualiser in an agency and worked my way up through designer; senior designer; studio manager, creative head and partner. I worked freelance and contract in London for over ten years with such names as BarrowParkhill and Pentagram. I was headhunted to set up and run an autonomous design team within a Midlands based Saatchi's agency. After working in the Midlands for around eight years, I returned to Norfolk, freelanced and then set up a partnership with an old college chum, five years after which, I established my current practice.

I'm a type based designer working on everything from logos; branding; packaging; corporate identity; exhibition stands & graphics; stationery; P.O.S and literature (and most things between). Many samples of work, my approach and ethos can be found at www.symonds-design.co.uk

    This shows the corporate brochure for Wyncon plc a development and investment company. The new logo represents objects above and below the ground that also form a ‘W’. The new logo is then applied to the corporate brochure, which in turn also serves as a folder which carries literature highlighting the specialist areas in which Wyncon operates.

    Redhouse Logo

    RedhouseLogo

    I was tasked with designing a corporate identity for a group of companies that where to be amalgamated under one banner.

    The client, Roger Bibby of Avocet said;

    ‘At Redhouse we inherited 4 different brand names and 29 pieces of
    stationery, the market was confused and so was the management.
    The brief was to consolidate this mess and create a simple logo using
    the Redhouse brand name and a logo which reflected what we did,
    which was air compressors.
    The response was timely, within budget and
    won widespread praise and recognition.’
